Emily Pearson, Speech and Language Therapist
Emily qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2017 and is now working at Speech Therapy Specialists as a newly qualified practitioner. Emily is registered with both the RCSLT and HCPC. During her training, Emily worked in a variety of settings including mainstream and special needs schools, nurseries and speech and language therapy clinics.
Following her studies, Emily volunteered as a speech and language therapist in Watamu, Kenya where she worked with children with learning disabilities and physical impairments in a special needs school. Emily delivered training to the staff in the school and raised awareness of speech and language therapy in an area where the profession is non-existent. Emily also provided therapy on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to enhance the children’s speech and language skills and their ability to communicate with others. Some of the children in the school also received some low-tech AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) from Emily to help them to communicate more effectively with others.
Emily is approachable, passionate and enthusiastic. She enjoys being creative and ensuring that therapy is tailored to each individual child’s needs. Working together with parents, school staff and other professionals is important to Emily to ensure that each child is considered holistically.
Emily has also completed the Makaton Foundation Stage Qualification.
Emily has gained experience working with:
